Undaunted, challenging spirit to achieve success

ESG

Overview

Conflict minerals refer to the four key minerals—tin,
tantalum, gold, and tungsten—that are mined in conflict zones such as the Democratic Republic of Congo and its neighbors as well as other countries in conflict.

Armed groups operate mining and sales networks for the minerals from the region to fund their conflicts. Forced labor, child labor, abuse, and other human-right violations, in addition to environmental pollution, are just some of the many social issues they cause.

ECI supports the ban on conflict minerals that cause human rights violations and social issues and endeavors to comply with related laws and regulations.

Conflict Minerals Policy
  • We demand that our suppliers strictly comply with our conflict minerals policies, ensuring that none of the conflict minerals
connected to armed groups are included in our products.
  • 01Our suppliers conduct a survey to ensure that none of the conflict minerals that contribute to the interests of armed groups in the Democratic Republic
of the Congo or its neighbors are used.
  • 02Suppliers are also required to maintain their good faith-based efforts to understand the names and locations of refiners so that conflict minerals
are not included in the supply chain.
  • 03A supplier must conduct an investigation and prepare/submit a conflict minerals report when requested.
  • 04A supplier providing incorrect information or failing to comply with ECI’s request to take corrective measures may have its business with ECI terminated.

Future plans

ECI will do its best not to use unethical minerals connected to human rights violations or environmental destruction in addition to
those related to armed groups.

We will educate our suppliers and encourage them to participate
in the RMAP (Responsible Minerals Assurance Process) program
to ensure that all supply changes use conflict-free refineries.

*RMI(Responsible Minerals Initiative)
: A request is issued to make changes from the sources of conflict minerals
if an uncertified refinery is used.
